Shaheen Afridi appointed as Pakistan’s new ODI captain

Before this, Shaheen had also led Pakistan's team in five T20 International matches against New Zealand in their home ground.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Shaheen Afridi as the new captain for one day internationals (ODI) series.

Left-handed fast bowler will lead the Pakistani team in three matches of the One Day International series against South Africa, which will be played in Faisalabad Iqbal Stadium from 4 to 8 November.

Shaheen Afridi was selected for this series after the meeting held in Islamabad,  in which White Ball Head coach Mike Henson, Director High Performance Aqib Javed, and selection committee members were included.

25-year-old fast bowler has played 66 One-Days and 92 T20 matches, in which he has collectively gained 249 wickets. In 32 test matches, excluding the second test match with South Africa in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Shaheen got 120 wickets.

Before this, Shaheen had also led Pakistan’s team in five T20 International matches against New Zealand in their home ground.
